Story Behind The Song
I wrote this before I had children and at a time when I thought I could not have children. I was reflecting on the verse in Luke 2: Mary kept these things, treasuring them in her heart.

Lyrics
Mary's Lullaby Christian/Inspirational
VERSE 1
Sleep softly now, my little child,
Lay down your tiny head.
You may be your Father's child,
But your mother will put you to bed.
One day you'll be the Savior king
And wear the crown of thorns,
But for now, love, in this cattle stall,
You're the child of my body born.
VERSE 2
Sleep softly now, my little one,
And cry away your fears.
You may be your Father's child,
But your mother will dry your tears.
For the frightened cries of a lonely child,
A mother's voice can soothe,
But the frightened cries of a lonely world,
Only one voice can remove,
Yes the frightened cries of a lonely world,
Only your voice will remove.
BRIDGE
Hush now, all you strangers here,
For my child will need his rest.
For though he'll be a holy man,
By his Father surely blest,
He has a world to win and souls to save
Before he fulfills his quest.
So hush now, all you strangers here,
My child will need his rest.
VERSE 3
Sleep softly now, beloved child,
For you'll ne'er be safe again.
When you leave my arms you'll face the world
And the angry taunts of men.
But for now, love, I will hold you close,
And silent vigil keep.
For your Father's hand may guide your life,
But your mother's hand will rock you to sleep.
Yes, your Father's hand will guide your life,
But your mother's hand will rock you to sleep.
