Story Behind The Song
My Father in Law died when my husband was a small boy. His mother lived the life of a widow for 17 years. This life left near unbearable duties on her back. This lifetime of stepping up was rewarded when a good man who loved her came into her life to carry her away, not from the day to day burdens, but from lonliness without reprieve. This song was presented to them as a gift on their wedding day as a celebration of their rediscovery of companionship and as a welcome to the family for her new husband.

Lyrics
Carried Away
Years ago I didn?t know I needed you
Sometimes I?d cry and not know why or what to do
I?d crawl into my bed and say a little prayer
But time went on and I?d cry for dawn to come
Even though ? I was alright on my own
I would pray to be carried away
Carried away
Even thought I didn?t know, I needed you
Your poetry confounded me and so did you
I knelt beside my bed to say a little prayer
Could it be, oh, could he be the one?
Even though ? I was alright on my own
I would say, could he carry me away?
Carried Away
From today we?ll make our way together
We?ll lift our eyes toward shining skies of blue
My hand in yours we reach out to forever
Come what may it?s simply me and you
You?ve been told that I was alright on my own
But today you?ve carried me away
Carried away.
