Story Behind The Song
You get numb if you hear it on the news enough times.
Song Description
They made lots of promises of wealth to those brave enough to go off to Iraq and work in the rebuilding after the war. This was a dangerous time, and some Americans got caught in the bloodshed. This song just chronicles those events from the perspective of one of the buddies who used to jam with him back home.

Lyrics
Two buddies was walking out of this bar
Still dreaming up schemes to ream the regime that sent us to war
There in the alley they talk to a man with a wallet lined with Doberman fur
He is a hustler claiming to know of the girl in the song before
?I?ve got these things in my head?
They heard the words he said
Of courage, service, honor and duty
His golden eyes were glistening
They had these two listening
To songs of fortune, wealth and of beauty
Me and Jimmy we wrote this song
Played guitar til I grew a blister
Jimmy and me got along pretty well
Jimmy and me and his sister
Jimmy says he?s doing fine ah but I know better
He?s out of his league with Steve, Reed and Bill
Maybe you know him or maybe you don?t
Either way you probably will
I wish you would come back
Need help with this drum track
I guess god needs you more in his convoy
You left in a gun fight
These verses don?t run right
promises don?t mean much when you?re gone, boy
Me and Jimmy we wrote this song
Played guitar til I grew a blister
Jimmy and me got along pretty well
Jimmy and me and his sister
