APRIL

Story Behind The Song

I took my wife off to the airport at 4:30, ate breakfast at the airport, saw my wife's plane off and headed home .....bad heavy fog ......passed this hitch hiker ,,,which I never pick up.....my heart was burdeden like never before to stop,,,,,as I drive God and me are talking ,,,,Im asking what-if questions .....he's saying go back ....6 miles later I turn around,, driving back 6 miles I'm saying to God, if she's still there I'll trust and know that everything is what you want to happen....sure 'nuff there she is ..she climbed in and from the moment I pulled away she started getting sleepy ....the dirty cloths...the oder....the uncombed tangled hair ....dirty skin.....she had to force her self to wake up to hold conversation.....it was bad !! my heart broke the next 12 miles.... the song tells the rest of the story Yaw'll pray for April

Lyrics

on a cold damp foggy morning
her thumb out in the air
passed her by on the interstate
her head turned as I staired
the love of Jesus spoke to me
said turn your truck around
plant a seed of salvation
and drive her into town

chorus:
cause April dont believe in Jesus
and April dont really care
its been to long since April
brushed her tangled hair

Aprils soul needs a savior
she realy didnt want to talk
she was glad I puilled over
she was way to tired to walk
Aprils eyes are gettin' heavy
been workin' trucks all through the night
she may never get to know him
but then again she might

chorus
cause April dont believe in Jesus
and April dont really care
its been to long since April
brushed her tangled hair

Aprils cloths tell the truth
life on the road is ruff
when I ask do you know Jesus
she said..... "I dont believe that stuff"
conversation ended
out the window she staired
my heart cryed out to Jesus
in a silent prayer

instrumental

I dropped her off at the corner store
said there's a church one block from here
if you ever have a need
love is always there
her heavy heart in a hurry
as her hand released the door
I wondered if I'd ever see April any more

chorus:
cause April dont believe in Jesus
and April dont really care
its been to long since April
new that someone cared
there's a lotta' folks like April
that need to know we care
