Story Behind The Song
The song "happened" almost instantly between Mandrake Project members Kirk Salopek and Rick Nelson at a rehearsal. They decided to record the idea which sounded so "pretty" and ended up using the scratch session to build the final take. The song almost did not happen due to problems down the road with session errors.
Song Description
LaLuna explores the density of Mandrake Project's ornate sound. It's a lush composition that shares as much Shostakovian waltz influence as it does anthemic styled dream pop like Sigur Ros. The song opens with the most melancholy and poignant introduction and reaches the epitome of a breathtaking crescendo.
