Song Description

Sharp & Witty, this song tackles the era or greed known as the eighties.

Story Behind the Song

Reagan referred to Soviet Russia as the Evil Empire; while at the same time, together with Maggie Thatcher, ushering in monetarism and an environment where it became cool to be greedy and manipulative as evidenced by the soap operas of the time, Dallas and Dynasty. The reference to a monkey stems from Reagan?s time as an actor when he co-stared with a monkey in a film entitled ?Bedtime for Bonzo?.

Gonna make this nation great
Gonna make the people hate
There?s an evil empire
It?s gotta be destroyed
Before the next election
Make the people paranoid.

Here we go again
Who are you calling insane
Me and my monkey,
we?re gonna save the world again
Me and my monkey,
we?re gonna get the girl again

Maggie I love you so
Together we can rule the world
We can ride a horse
Sing a song together
We can play at God
Even change the weather.

Let?s hear it for the Gipper!

Gonna make a creed of greed
Gonna sow my bastard seed
You can meet J.R.
You can make Sue Ellen
You can live with me
In capitalistic heaven

Now I?m riding into the sun
Let me introduce my ?son?
Say hallo to George
He?s a good ole boy (Yeeha!)
Gonna give him nukes
And all my other toys.
