Long Road

Story Behind The Song

Long Road is one of the first folk songs I wrote and I guess it was inspired by some of the great folk singers of our time who I was listening to at that point like BOB Dylan, Paul Simon, Joan Baez etc. I really wanted to have a depth in the song and it pretty much wrote itself.

Song Description

Long Road looks at the world today and the fight to appear 'fine' all the time. Emotions seem to be swept under the carpet and instead we turn to ideals of happiness that won't serve us in the end. It's about stripping down the layers and really experiencing the human condition and helping one another in the everyday struggles of life.

Lyrics

LONG ROAD

A lay my hand across the sky to paint a perfect picture
Then watch to see the colours fade and bleed into the winter
The sun had gone but lingered on to leave a stain behind
And a blizzard froze four walls around this little heart of mine

Oh no...It's getting cold

You drop your head toward the ground
And wear a smile to hide your frown
And walk around like every things alright
You shrugged it off it's no big deal
The pain inside, the way you feel
The stuff we bury deep
That no one ever sees

CHORUS
But we can't hide away
Trapped inside the walls we've made
Where love has all but slipped away from us
Cause it's our time to change
We don't have to walk alone
Lets make our way together
On this Long Road

There's pretty lights , posters, signs
To take away whats on our minds
It's hard to find the things we really need
And images of love unveil on movie screens in small detail
But the pressures hard to bare
When life aint quite as fair

CHORUS
But we cant hide away
Trapped inside the walls we've made
Where love has all but slipped away from us
Cause it's our time to change
We don't have to walk alone
Lets make our way together
On this Long Road

I will leave the light on
If you fall too far away
Cause it may seem a long way down
But if you loose your way dont hesitate to call my name

CHORUS
But we cant hide away
Trapped inside the walls we've made
Where love has all but slipped away from us
Cause it's our time to change
We don't have to walk alone
Cant we make our way together
On this Long Road
