Story Behind The Song
Inspired by the first child I sponsored in 1978. I was so saddened to read of other children who toil in sweatshops or at landfills, never carefree, well nourished or happy. Wished that all children could be cared for, loved, and get to have a childhood.
Song Description
A wish that no child should be deprived of the things children need most: shelter, sustenance, love, and the chance to be children. A wish that they may grow up full of hope and wonder, free from fear and cynicism.

Lyrics
For the Children
Words/music © 1978 Loren Harder
This is for all the children
May your days be filled with delight
May you live in a world of love
May you be warm at night
You have so much to live and learn
So many things to go through
Just remember wherever you are
Your heavenly father loves you
This is for all the children
May your eyes be quick to see
That true joy does not come from things
But from the hearts of you and me
You were born in a world of wonders
There's beauty all around you
Let love for life take you far
Don't let evil surround you
[instrumental]
As you grow you will find many things
That are not as they should be
But the right will always prevail
If you will pray and believe
This is for all the children
May your days be filled with delight
May you live in a world of love
May you be warm at night
