Story Behind The Song
"Steal You Away" was inspired by the story of a New York City drugdealer who was arrested for the murder of a young man. When asked why he killed him, the drugdealer's response was because he, "...messed with [his} girl."
Song Description
This song borrows the rhythms of the Clash and The Police circa 1981. The story ecompasses the idea of going after the most dangerous love interest of all - the girlfriend of a mobster / drugdealer. The narrator of the tale has a deep interest in the "off-limits" girlfriend of a nefarious local criminal, and he implores her to run away with him, at the risk of losing his life over his love for her.
