Morning Glory

Story Behind The Song

Lizzie was just starting to work with John, John had written the guitar hook and a few verses. Lizzie e-mailed some verses, but she was stuck on the two lines beginning verse two. John e-mailed back, "Come On, morning glory, shall we go astray, take my hand to green fields, we'll find a place to lay." Since it was November and cold in Maine, it sounded like a pretty good idea at the time, so we kept that verse.

Song Description

love only comes to us for the period of time for which it is meant to grace us with its ephemeral and fleeting nature. It is ours to integrate the lessons of letting go, and being grateful for the time we had with the fleeting butterflies and flowers. However, there is always that feeling that we wish we could tame the wind and ride the wild mustangs.

Lyrics

Hello Morning Glory
I hope you're here to stay
Different day with a different story
Told the same old way
Take the time to unwind let it go
As the world sails by
All alone someone singing you can hear her sigh
I'll love you while you're around Morning Glory

Come On Morning Glory shall we go astray
Take my hand to green fields we'll find a place to lay
Sing for me set me free let it go
As the world sails by
All alone someone singing and you can hear her smile
I'll love you while you're around Morning Glory

Hey Hey summer's gone by
Don't it make you want to cry
It's the same way eavery year
Time just seems to disappear
Seasons move way too fast
Gotta make the good times last
Hold on as best you can
Time waits for no man.

Goodbye Morning Glory
I know you've gone away
Different day with a different story
There was nothing I could say
Took her hand, shared a laugh, let her go
As the world sailed by
All alone someone singing
you can hear her cry
I'll love you next time around Morning Glory
