Story Behind The Song
Kind of like Workingman's Dead, by the GD, this song has a rootsy feel with a lot of colorful lyrics, that was what I was after. This also was written shortly after I had my twin babies Gabrielle and Grace, which I worked into the lyrics.
Song Description
This song has a kind of 60's feel to the groove, with multiple verses that just kind of paint the picture of the Beat Generation's idea that the point of traveling is not to get to your destination, but to enjoy the trip itself.

Lyrics
HEAD NORTH
He laid down put his head to the ground
He could hear that engine coming
He got up and grabbed his stuff
And put it in his pocket
Don’t call me a fool if I call you a liar
I sleep beneath the stars next to a roaring fire
While you can’t feel the earth beneath you
You world is dead and its gonna get you
Ho, Head North
Just ahead I’m getting off
Like Gabriel with the Grace of God
I know my hand and I know my odds
The stars in the sky they lead me away
On a high on the cliff and I’m here to stay
Ho, Head North
Just ahead I’m getting off
I run the land I’m lean like a foxhound
From the Northern lights to the beat of Frenchtown
Coal City Blues out in Illinois
Life is the trip, I tell you, boy
Ho, Head North
Just ahead I’m getting off
By candlelight I lead my way
Hit me in the face with another day
I feel so good, Never been more alive
Than ten thousand men on the other side
Ho, Head North
Just ahead I’m getting off
