Story Behind The Song
A friend sent me a post from Facebook and asked if I could turn it into a lyric. The story resonated with me and since it was shared over 2 million times I felt if I could successfully translate it into a song - I might have something that people would relate to.
Song Description
We all end up at the same place. Some of us just get there sooner than others. This is a song about patience and kindness for someone near the end of the journey through life.

Lyrics
I got the call
to pick up a fare
she's on a hundred and 10th
seems like my
shift just won't end
I toot the horn
but no one in sight
I wanna call it a day
but I've driven all this way
So I knock on the door
and a weak voice says "who's there"
said I'm the driver for you
and she finally appeared
Her hair was white
and she moved slow
because the years
have taken their toll
I said may I take your bag
she said "you're such a good boy for that!"
The fare begins
a journeys end
don't want to
travel alone
the fare begins
a journeys end
the final truth
is UNKNOWN
As we stepped
into the car
she handed me the address
I said this won't take too long
she asked me to
drive her downtown
I'm trying to end my day
I said it's not the shortest way
she said she's got the time
and the hospice, it can wait
hoping that I won't mind
no one worries if she's late
so we drove down memory lane
history that's now disguised
showed me her newlywed home
and a ballroom that's now long gone
the fare begins
a journeys end
don't want to
travel alone
the fare begins
a journeys end
the final truth
is UNKNOWN
as the sun began
to rise
she told me she's feeling tired
I think it's time we end this ride
At our final
destination
she said how much do I owe
I said "how 'bout we let it go"
She insists that she pays
but I said there would be other fares
she gave a smile that said she
was grateful someone cared
I helped her from the car
and we shared a gentle hug
she said thank you for
showing a lonely lady a little love
the fare begins
a journeys end
don't want to
travel alone
the fare begins
a journeys end
the final truth
is UNKNOWN
