Song Description

A prayer for help on awakening, through the day, and on retiring.

Story Behind the Song

I wanted to do a song for the album "Road of Recovery" which incorporated some of the tools we use on a daily basis. The song wrote itself.

Thank You for wakin? me up this morning.
How can I serve You today?
This life could end without a warning,
So I thank You for givin? me one more day.
Help me to use it for Your purpose ?
Please keep my fears and doubts away.
And when I need to make decisions, let me turn to You and pray.

Thank You for being by my side today
As I walk among my fellow man.
Give me the calmness of Your Spirit,
Let me extend a helping hand.
God, save me from being angry.
Lord, Your will, not mine be done!
Make me teachable and humble ?
Let Your heart and mine be one.

Thank You for getting me through the day, Lord!
With a minimum of stress.
Help me to look at my day honestly,
And my shortcomings confess.
Show me where I have been self-seeking,
Selfish, dishonest or afraid;
And let me not sink into slumber
Until my amends are made.

It always fills me with such wonder
That You could love one such as I ?
Please keep me teachable and humble, and sober ?til I die.

Thank You for wakin? me up? this mornin??
