Story Behind The Song
"Only Love" was written as teh "big ballad" for a musical production, "Teh Legend of Sleeping Beauty," which is being published in 2007. It is sung by Sleeping Beauty's aunt (when she discovers the girl asleep in the tower), later by the prince (before he kisses the maiden awake), then reprised at the end by the whole company, to close the show.
Movie producer Stephen Simon (Somewhere in Time, What Dreams May Come) plays this song, set to a montage of movie scenes that I helped pick, to close his public speaking engagements. Not a dry eye in the house. In Simon's words, it's "one of the great love songs ever written, sung by 'The Voice,' Laura Derocher. Celine Dion move over."
I perform this often when I'm speaking and singing at spiritual centers around the country. The song has layers of meaning; it carries a message that includes Divine Love as well as romantic love. People are often deeply moved by this song.
