Song Description

This is a story about meeting a girl who is absolutely perfect. They have an awesome time, and then the girl disappears. The theme is about longing to have her back, and then she finally does come back.

Story Behind the Song

Funny story. It was a first date. This girl was awesome. Very fun. We were out at a bar after dinner and a concert. She asked me to dance and I said no I don't know how. She said all I had to do was the white guy thing and put my arms up over my head while she did all the dancing...on me. Ha! It was a good time needless to say. But she really did leave town on me. She never came back either, that part of the song was wishful thinking.

Lyrics

I met a girl
She was nothin' short of perfect to me
My eyes light up
The way she lived was amazing to see What I mean
Is she just had a way of being so free
She made me smile
She asked me to dance, but I told her

I don't know how
She said it's alright
Just come with me right now

She said put your arms up high baby and I will dance the night
Away with you
Now she's gone
She just walked away
They say when it rains it pours
You know that no one could love her more
Than I do
Cause she's the one who said
You just need to learn how to
Dance in the rain

So here I am
Waitin' for her with a bottle of wine
I take sip
I'd wait for a year if it
Takes her that long
The funny thing
I wasn't even lookin' when she
Came to me
Will she show?
This can't be goodbye

I need you tonight
Maybe this time we can get it right

She said put your arms up high baby and I will dance the night
Away with you
Now she's gone (she's gone)
She just walked away
They say when it rains it pours
You know that no one could love her more
Than I do
Cause she's the one who said
You just need to learn how to
Dance in the rain

Now I'm all by myself
Will I see her again?

So I put my arms up high wishin' that She was here tonight
Stay with me
Make me dance
She just walked back in

They say when it rains it pours
You know I could not love you more
Than I do
Now you're here (she's here)
You just need to learn how to dance in The rain will fall down on us but we won't feel it at all
You're the one who said
I just need to learn how to dance
I never really had a chance
Man I wish I knew how to dance
In the rain
I wish I knew how to dance

I met a girl
She was nothin' short of perfect to me
