Song Description

A look at a couple instances of rough "barrio" life and realizing we're all brothers and sisters no matter what our ethnicity.

Story Behind the Song

I teamed up with Grammy winning producer/songwriter Andy Byrd and hit songwriter Jimmy Collins for this one. They wanted to know what it was like growing up "latino" and things I experienced in my youth. We wanted to tie these experiences together with a sense of hope for everyone.

Lyrics

I saw them holding hands in the barrio - In love madly - Wanting to break free - Life for them ain't easy in the barrio - East side - West side - Jaded eyes can't - See the different shades of brown in the colors all around - It's our world - Let's change it now - As far as I can see we're all just shades of brown - I saw a brother beaten by familia - Mother, father - Oh the blood runs deep - Then there's things I know I can't talk about - Dreams are gonna die if they don't - See the different shades of brown in the colors all around - It's our world - Let's change it now - As far as I can see we're all just shades of brown - We're running out of time - How could we be so blind? - Without love we never will survive - You and I are looking for the answers - Se la jente solo hare - See the different shades of brown in the colors all around - It's our world - Let's change it now - As far as I can see we're all just shades of brown - Without love we never will survive
