Song Description

Metaphor using a rag to describe a man in a relationship where he feels used

Broadjam Member Reviews

This is a really well performed piece. The musicianship and recording is excellent. It reminds me of a modern take on a vaudeville song. It conjures ideas of people congregating in a saloon.

    - Tim Juliano

Nice piano bar song, some good ideas in the lyrics, vocal and piano work well together.

    - Joshua Rice

This rag of a man is all tattered and torn
A damaged good that's been heavily worn
All tired and sore from a beat up past
A few miles left but they're going fast

Love has a way of turning its head
When shiny and new fall out of your bed
One look in the mirror and the rag that you see
Is just a shell where the man used to be

You've made very clear what this man is for
Take all he had and then take some more
Find him, love him, and show him the door
Wad up the rag, stick it back in the drawer

(repeat Chorus)

It's time for this rag to get on down the road
It's been here a while, now it's ready to go
All the use has been squeezed out of me
This rag has got to be moving, needs to be free

(repeat Chorus)

The empty shell that used to be me
Now just an old rag, a rag of a man see
