We Don't Need Another War

Story Behind The Song

Ken Matthiesen and I are both products of the 60's. I have never understood why we have so many wars. Ken wrote these lyrics during another conflict in the Gaza Strip and sent them to me. I literally picked up my guitar and wrote this tune on the first take. I love when that happens. I hope this song inspires peace!!!

Lyrics

Oooh-oooh-oooh
Oooh-oooh-oooh

Brothers in far away places
Start fires at neighbors doors
We need to make some changes
But we don't need another war
We don't need another war..no-no-no

The sirens in the distance
Take me back to chilling times
Pain behind their existence
Sends shutters down my spine
Shutters down my spine-ine-ine-ine

(Chorus)
We don't need another war
Nobody's keeping score
There's no need for anymore
We don't need another war

Politics on the table
Don't answer to broken lives
Rockets fired at baby cradles
We have to hear them cry
Why can't we hear them cry-no-no-no

(repeat Chorus)

Oh-oh-oh
Oh-oh-oh
Oh-oh-oh
Oh-oh-oh
Oh...no more wars

(repeat chorus)

We don't need another war
Listen to what I have to say
We don't need another war
We don't need another war
We don't need another war

nice ballad nice harmonies nice voice war very good theme

Beautiful song, the melody fits the lyrics just right. The hook is strong and the instrumentation that is presented is tight. The vocalist is great.

Nice piano and vocal work make this message song work, certainly suitable for many commercial application.

Like the vocal opening and the lead voice. Very good voice for Americana. Also, love the voices in the chorus, nice arrangement. The chorus is well understood, easy to remember and clear what the point is. voices sit well in the mix, nice and up front.

Great sentiment, with fine vocals and tight harmonies. A simple but effective arrangement with mainly guitar and very cool piano.

I liked the message and the feel of this. Not sure it is country, but i liked it.

nice harmony I like the drone, nice sentiment, reminds me of the old protest songs from the 60's . good tempo good drive , I like it.

Good message with a hook.

Very good song that reflects our current times, I can see this song being a great candidate for film placement. Nicely written although I think it wouldn't have hurt to add another verse to the song still a nice job on the writing. I also like how the vocals pretty much start from the into that works well for this song.

This song's melody is very haunting! Cool harmonies going on!

Good song the brother!!! Seriously, everything was spot on!

Great harmonies! Nice melody! I like the quality of the voices and the instrumentation is spot on.

with so many of our brother & sisters, sons & daughters, mothers & fathers cast out upon foreign lands to fight in the field of battle, it is most difficult to create a song that speaks to the heart of the matter yet not come across as disrespectful to those who serve.

not based upon blame, and with heart-filled truth, you have provided anthem to bringing our loved ones home. hats off to you. . .
