Lonely Out Here

Story Behind The Song

I wrote this song after losing someone who was very close to me. I spent a lot of time soul searching. It wasn't about a relationship gone bad. It was written after my father passed. I had such a sense of loss and loneliness and this song came out of that emotion.

Lyrics

Lonely Out Here written by Keith Taylor and Bruce Taylor

I'm getting pretty tired of holding on
But the feeling that you're gone won't disappear
I've got to learn to get on with my life
It's going to take a while and it's lonely out here

I try to see a smile when I look in the mirror
I never do and it's lonely out here

I used to think that things were going just fine
The reasons that you left still aren't clear
But I've got lots of time to think about
What went wrong, it's so lonely out here

I try to see some hope when I look in the mirror
I never do and it's lonely out here

I never saw it coming
Now its my worst fear
I can't even tell you
All I'm feeling out here

I'm getting pretty tired of holding on
I'd turn my life around if I could steer
And I've got lots of time to think about
What went wrong, it's so lonely out here

I try to see my life when I look in the mirror
I never do and it's lonely out here

Really moody and reflective atmosphere.
Nice melody and heartfelt vocals.
Words tell the story really well.
Nice understated piano track.
Sad but enjoyable.

A very nice piece ... very smooth and polished ! ...
Fantastic vocal performance.

Here's a poignant break-up song from the male counterpart's point of view, "It's lonely out here." That is well-communicated in this sad song. Forlorn and forsaken, he wonders what went wrong. Sincere vocal with nice piano instrumentation. Mirror/here - nice rhyme.

I think that you need to articulate (words were sometimes difficult to understand) more. Also the length of the song was too short for commercial radio.

Very nice lyric and delivery. Quiet, serious song.

Very pretty melody. I like the dynamic in the bridge. Nice harmonies. Unique vocal timber, I like it. Very nice instrumentation. Good luck with this pretty song, it delivers a very good melancholy.

Very good melody and like the emotion in the vocal. The playing is good and falls into a nice groove. Very clear theme and and a bit of a different approach. Good piano. I like the phrase, "It's lonely out here." Really hits.

I enjoyed the classic singer songwriter feel to this one. Brought me back to the days my mom would sit on the porch with me as a child, sipping wine, listening to 80s broken heart songs. It served its purpose and somehow helped her smile when times got tough for her. She'd swing me around slightly intoxicated on wine while singing Boston, sometimes a hint to the first smile I'd seen from her in weeks... and any gag reflex most children would have, would get shelved for a sense of relief to see her smile. That's how I got into Elton John actually... But that's another review (smiles.) Speaking of quality lyrics, I really dug these lyrics. Relatable at one point... light years past this mood and mindset these days, but it has value, just make sure your metadata is on.

I like the sound of the piano and the drums, very good lyrics as well - sounds a little like B.J. Thomas.

Nice smooth Melody with a matching voice

Great vocals, recording, instrumentation, and arrangement.

Cool harmonies. The strings are a nice touch. I really like how the song builds, well done.

It had a nice traditional country feel. it reminded me of the 70's a little. it was a very heart felt song.

Nice sounding song. It has an "Old Country" feel too it, which was really refreshing to listen to.
The vocals and instrumentation were arranged well.I enjoyed listening to it. I can hear it being used in a Soundtrack.

Traditional sounding country track with good instrumentation and a fine arrangement. A warm, accurate vocal with tight harmonies. The heartbreak subject is a common one and difficult to find an original angle.

Loved the vocal, arrangement and instrumentation.

Pretty good tune.

Pretty melody, nice smooth, yet emotional vocal performance. Nice arrangement. Good recording and good instrumental performances.
