Song Description
In the song Temporary Insanity a girl (woman) is going out on the town like she has done many times before. She is shocked to find that she abandons all of her intentions and values because she meets a man who makes her crazy with desire for him whether it is right or wrong.
Yet deep inside her she knows that she should not be allowing this to happen. But she wants him and is willing to forget all of her responsibilities and doesn't consider the consequences because she is so drugged with desire.
So the descant part represents her body which is telling her yes and her conscience which is telling her no. It makes her crazy and ultimately she gives in to the desire she feels but is still haunted by her values. She is temporarily insane.
It is the internal struggle that is being communicated with the descant. And so the yes's are full of desire and feel good, and the no's are an attempt to get her to consider her values and responsibilities. Like sometimes inside you say YES and then you think, wait! NO!
In the end she gives into the yes but the no is still lurking and when the moment is over she will have to face the consequences of her actions, but she will also have the memory of the man she wanted and had even if only for a moment.
I want you to understand the internal struggle and the struggle of good vs evil that this song is meant to convey.
