Story Behind The Song
This song is one of an album of songs I wrote about failed marriages and relationships. I was in a particularly bitter place when I wrote this song because an ex-boyfriend had stolen everything I owned. Writing "No Luck With Men" was cathartic -- the best therapy I've ever experienced -- and certainly therapy I needed very much.
Song Description
The song came to me in a dream, and when I wrote it I felt cleansed and better about my failed marriages, failed relationships and loss of material possessions. The song was in my head. Three of the verses are about true experiences with two ex-husbands and an ex-boyfriend. At the time I wrote it I truly had had No Luck With Men.

Lyrics
No Luck With Men
Written by: Katherine R. Dougan
NO LUCK WITH MEN
CHORUS
Well I've got No Luck With Men,
When I see one that I like, it's trouble again.
Try and try to make it work, but it ain't meant for me.
I've got No Luck With Men
VERSE 1
I was drinking 'shine, when I met my first love,
He looked so fine in the starlight from above,
We staggered home, he jumped my bones, as best I can recall,
Married bliss, and woodgrain alcohol.
VERSE 2
My second spouse I met when I was stoned,
He walked me home so I wouldn't be alone.
Married in Kentucky, divorced in Alabam',
He went way up north and here I am, 'cause,
CHORUS
VERSE 3
The third one took my stuff and then he fled,
I ended up in Jackson with no bed.
He took my clothes, all my right shoes, he got my baby grand.
He went way up north, and here I am, (and y'all know why) 'cause,
CHORUS
VERSE 4
I see you sitting there looking so fine,
I noticed that you're trying to catch my eye.
Maybe you should listen to these words I sing to you.
A love like ours would only make you blue, 'cause,
CHORUS
