Story Behind The Song
Around 2000 I found a publisher (Captain Kidd Music/BMI) named Scotty Turner down in Nashville. He mentored me for a bit and this song was the result of his ability to foster some creativity in me. He loved it and signed it to his publishing immediately. Later he allowed me to put an entire albums worth of songs into his publishing firms' catalogue.

Lyrics
Warm Kentucky Wind
copyright 2000 Captain Kidd Music BMI
Words and Music by Karl Sky
I took a drive just yesterday
down winding roads I guess I'd wished away
Found the tree where we first kissed
and ran my finger round the heart we niched
I drove on further to the house
the yard seems empty with her flowers gone
That old porch swing where we held hands
an every summer night romance
Refrain: Oh that Warm Kentucky Wind
stirs the memories in my mind
I have seen the vision of your
face at least a thousand times
the way you drove away,
that final wave,
no last kiss for goodbye
I can feel it all again
in that Warm Kentucky Wind
The owner came out of the house
asked me, "just who is it you're looking for?"
I told her, " I had lived here once"
Before the damage had been done
I waved goodbye to my new friend
and found the place where my love left me then
Even as the light turned green
I sat there staring at the scene
Refrain:
Bridge: I tell myself she is gone and other times I can't let go
I hope I catch a glimpse tonight, before her spirit leaves my soul
No broken glass, but shattered hopes
To find upon the pavement here below
One driver took my lovers' life
I stand here screaming to the sky
