Perfect Time

Story Behind The Song

The song sticks pretty much to the facts. A real experience.

Song Description

You wake up and nothing is working out. Then you get to the door. There is a letter which says something along the lines of "Sorry but i need to find spiritual fulfilment/reclaim my life/some space, but don't worry your fine. It's me that is the problem." In other words a complete cop out. It's wet, you're lonely and there's no escape. You go to shop and happy coupled people are all around, celebrating their happy coupledness, as if they're fully aware of your plight. Desperate you go to seek some sort of verbal resolution but none is to be found. And even though this is not the way it should be, the power is out of your hands. There's nothing you can do about it.

Lyrics

I woke up with a headache
And a throat as rough as nails
The heating had gone and broken
And the washing froze to the rails
And the gas wouldn't work
And I couldnt find my shoes
And on my 'welcome' door mat sat
A most fatal piece of news.

Can I ask you why, you chose today to
Post me a goodbye
And slip away to
Greener fields and bluer skies?
You picked a perfect time to find youself.

I took an ocean for a puddle,
My umbrella wouldn't work.
I watched a thousand blissful couples
Shop offensively after work.
Why can't you go away,
Why are you out today,
Slighting me in that typical way
Like I used To.

Can I ask you why, you chose today to
Post me a goodbye
And slip away to
Greener fields and bluer skies?
You picked a perfect time to find youself.

And it rained, it rained, and it rained down on my face
And I could not begin to
Move here off the step outside your place.
As the curtain fell back you removed
Out of the Frame
Your pretty face.
And my eyes they were red,
But its just the rain coming down
Down at your place

This was not how it was mean't to be done
This is the first time that I haven't won
And as I stand here waiting for you
You tend to realise what the rest of them go through.

Can I ask you why, you chose today to
Post me a goodbye
And slip away to
Greener fields and bluer skies?
You picked a perfect time to find youself.

You picked a perfect time to find yourself..

You picked a perfect time to find yourself...

And slip away.
