Song Description

Andy & I have put together three songs based on this formula: One for a Birthday (the original), one for Christmas and this one for the New Year. Andy is at http://www.andygoggin.com/ - go and listen to his other songs, 'cos he's a cool guy!

Story Behind the Song

Andy sent the initial idea to John, John wrote the Bridge and sent it back to Andy, Andy & John sent it to Phil who then sent it back finished! (John then secretly added a few New Year sounds).

Lyrics

There was a time when we were only seventeen,
And though we'd lay awake at night we could still dream
About the way our lives together would unfold,
But then I blinked and now it seems our story's told.

Happy New Year, Darling -
Has it really been a year since the last one?
Oh, I can't believe how time flies by,
So while the champagne's sparkling
I'll raise my glass to you - Happy New Year.

But then again maybe the story never ends
When two young lovers end as two old friends.
And though the years fly by, I guess we're young at heart,
And so our story grows - this day is just the start.

Happy New Year, Darling -
Has it really been a year since the last one?
Oh, I can't believe how time flies by,
So while the champagne's sparkling
I'll raise my glass to you - Happy New Year.

What's in a year in anyone's life, my friend?
Seasons may come and seasons will end.
We have our memories of New Years gone by
So let's get out and celebrate!

Happy New Year, Darling -
Has it really been a year since the last one?

Happy New Year, Darling (Happy New Year) -
Has it really been a year (Has it really been a year) since the last one?
Oh, I can't believe how time flies by,
So while the champagne's sparkling
I'll raise my glass to you - Happy New Year.

I can't believe how time flies by,
So while the champagne's sparkling
I'll raise my glass to you - Happy New Year, Happy New Year.
