Lyrics
AMERICA
I swam in Mark Twain's Mississippi River
Saw dolphins play in Puget Sound's blue water
I looked into the face of Lady Liberty
Her torch is still blazing from sea to shining sea
CHORUS
From the gold mining towns of California
To the coal mining towns of Pennsylvania
Every road I travel on, every person that I meet
Brings me closer to you America
I was born in Omaha, Nebraska
Been fishing off Homer, Alaska
Went to high school in St. Paul, Minnesota
Walked in Hemingway's house, Key West, Florida
CHORUS
My Daddy was a military man
And he fought for the freedom of this land
For the gold mining towns of California
And the coal mining towns of Pennsylvania
Every road I travel on, every person that I meet
Brings me closer to you, land of the free, America
