Lyrics

9 Lives

Life number one wasn?t much fun. I?d only known you for days.
I didn?t know how often I?d go dying in so many ways.

Life number two was given to you. You wouldn?t return my call.
I was patiently waiting, anticipating. I felt two feet tall.

Chorus
What you?ve done to me is worse than guns and knives.
You took all of my ?NINE LIVES?

Life number three was taken from me. I was seventeen.
You weren?t aware that I was there. You were the homecoming queen.

Life number four went out the door. I was twenty one.
The perfect setting, a perfect wedding, there was nothing I could?ve done

TO CHORUS

Life number five, I was barely alive holding onto my dreams.
I wished you the best but then I confessed to one of my deviate schemes.

Life number six hit me like bricks. I saw you on the street.
You and your man, you were holding his hand. I swear you were laughing at me.

TO CHORUS

Life number seven, I went to heaven it had nothing to do with you.
With shingles like butter, I tripped on the gutter and fell right off of the roof.

Life number eight, you moved out of state. I thought you were gone for good.
Then one sunny day you called to say you finally understood.

TO CHORUS

Now that you?re mine in life number nine, my last life I will live.
I?ll be what you needed. But I?d gladly repeat it if I had nine more to give.
