Song Description

"We're Not It" is simply about finally knowing when to say quit when you're in a dysfunctional relationship. Even when all your friends are yelling at you to run away.

Story Behind the Song

'We're Not It' went through a number of metamorphic changes before the one you hear now. I'm not really sure when it began, but I think upon returning from Burning Man 2006 this version is what stuck.

Lyrics

tell ya what i know probably you could guess
your words won?t break this cowardice
tell ya what i dig tell ya what i'd give
a gold stop watch you're wanderin' in

love won't you realize we're not it
down in this broken bag of shit

tell ya what i find find this on my rhyme
oh the birds won't talk to frankenstein
now that i?m a wreck probably you could guess
i'm worth more now the mark is spent

love won't you realize we're not it
down in this broken bag of shit

now that i am old older than you james
aiding for this time relax relax
burnin' on my bed the lawn needs mowed
your bother came home and heard it all

love won't you realize we're not it
down in this broken bag of shit
