Song Description
The recuring lines "Would I do it again" just arrived when writing the melody. It got me thinking about this story:
The singer - a woman, but it's actually my voice on the demo - becomes aware of her past lives. She discovers that in previous incarnations she was partnered with the same fellow she's with now.
Their current relationship is a difficult one, as were past ones. It dawns on her that the reason they keep incarnating and finding each other is that there's a lesson for them both to learn. That lesson, of course, is to love unconditionally, in spite of difficulty.
Hence, throughout she asks herself "Would I do this again?" (ie, "reincarnate and hook up with you again?").
Finally, having realised her lesson, she experiences a kind of epiphany, and the lingering question is resolved: "Would I do this again? I would!"
The philosophical context in this final couplet is that she's now free of the "Wheel of Samsara", free of perpetual reincarnation, and is ready to embrace Nirvana.
A bit wacky, huh? :)
To *subtly* relate this story in a lyric, requires a seriously talented lyricist....which I am sadly not.

I should point out that I'm a composer of music, not lyrics. The following lyrics are sketchy.......numerous lyricists have tried to flesh this song out, but I think it needs a "pro"! :)
Verse 1
If I???.
[I was thinking that ?Seems I dreamed myself outside of time? might be a good first line.]
Chorus
I?ve had lives of love
And lives of pain
And now I know it?s all a game.
Da-da-da-da
Da-da-da-da
Da-da-da-da
Da-da-da-da
But would I do it again?
Would I do it again??
Would I?
[No more new words on the demo until the Final Chorus?..]
Final Chorus
I?ve had lives of love
And lives of pain
And now I know it?s all a game
The one wheel spins
And all begins
And ends
But you and I remain
So will I do it again?
Would I do it again?
Should I?
Could I?
Would I??..?
I would.
