Story Behind The Song
Written the morning after an affair, walking at 6 a.m. in a desolate field when I was reflecting on the night before. Quite literally, and suddenly, a flock of black Raven-like birds started diving on me (think almost like a scene from Hitchcock's The Birds!) except they were dancing around me, not attacking me. I took this as some sort of spiritual message, that they were sensing my depression and were trying to cheer me up or maybe they were warning me not to try and push the relationship any further, because it was evident to them (at least) that my love was not being reciprocated in any manner or form, despite my valiant attempts.
Song Description
Acknowledging that a relationship is not going to work no matter how hard you try, using the analogy of the birds to send the message of "reciprocate, or lets part."

Lyrics
VERSE 1
I saw a raven fly.
Telling all the world.
Everything he heard.
Everything he saw
Another righteous try.
Giving all your heart.
Tearing out your soul.
All to lose control.
Was it attention?
Was it deliverence?
Was it the nearness as?
CHORUS
Birds swoop down.
All because I made love
Birds swoop down.
Just because I'm in love
VERSE 2
No other reason stands
Hard before the court
They gather on the walk.
Single pigeons fly
In formation
Alone, but in a group.
You look up from your soup.
As I look into your eyes.
I look for conviction
I look for attraction
I look for the nearness as
CHORUS
BRIDGE
I stand before you with undying reason.
Open your heart before I die.
I won't quit. It's the flying season
I'm going to fly, fly, fly, fly.
