Story Behind The Song
Coming home to Pennsylvania in the fall, from college for weekends, then later for years, stirring rain and love and alcohol and loss and hope.
Song Description
A guy back in his hometown with a group of other young guys, a mix of friends he's somewhat known forever and whoever's stumbled into their circles down the years. Getting shitfaced as per usual, he's not really there - he's visualizing the woman that never tends to show up at these kinds of things, no matter how much the single ones among them half-heartedly bring it up.
One day she does for him.
Then she leaves.
He's looking back on all of this.

Lyrics
And when I see you at the door
I hold that down and I run to you
The boys all play the dark red song
with the vodka shots from the Solo cups
Pennsylvania in the fall
will get so deep, you wonder where you landed
Said we don't wait no more
She is beautiful dancin'
Through the clouds I swear I know it's you
Said we don't wait no more
There's a full sunrise, it comes
high over the low treetops
Another rain will kick in low
You stick around and the storm will stay
But you go away, and years from now
The sun will walk down the valley
A morning call on a rising hill
A new road come from dirt to gold in time
Said we don't wait no more
She is beautiful dancin'
Through the clouds I swear I know it's you
Said we don't wait no more
There's a full sunrise, it comes
high over the low treetops
