Song Description

Beverly is someone I had an off and on relationship while attending college. For thre years we had a relationship which was really somewhat one sided. I cared about her but I was somewhat too slow for her. But she was not as fast as she thought and would eventually come back to me and I would gladly take her back. She was beautiful but was very sensitive and had a short temper. But she did have a spell over me for much of the time. Beverly basically did not know what she wanted out of life at that time so she kind of experiemented. But she really did care for me and I decideded that I wasn't the right person for her and I finally got her out of my head...so I thought. Today more than thirty years later I still think about her and what could have been. But then I always come to the conclusion that we would not have lasted too lomg as a couple.

Lyrics

BEVERLY
INTRO
Beverly (she's a real fine devilry)
REPEAT
She's sleak and slim with the fiery red hair
And when she's mad at you, you'd better disappear
Bevrly (she's a real fine devilry)
REPEAT
Don't make Beverly's temperature rise
Or you sho nuff will be a victim of those slashing eyes
She's got a razor tongue that will hold you at bay
And when she talks to you/ better hear what she say
(Beverly - she's a real fine devilry)
REPEAT
Now I'm a man who really likes to take his time
But you'd better be there before nine (if you want to see Beverly - she's a real devilry)
REPEAT
One week I thought she was mine
The next week I had to stand in line - to see Beverly ( she's a real fine devilry)
One week she told me she loved me so
The next week she said I had to go - (Beverly shes gonna make a fool of me)
Sometimes she could act so bold
She's from the Yukon I guess that why she's so cold
One moment she could be so sweet and kind
The next moment that hot temper blow your mind
(Beverly she's a real fine devilry)
Beverly - she's a realy fine devilry
REPEAT
Finally one day I guess she came around
She came to my place and told me to sit down
She said Heyward you know your'e the man for me
I had to get up and climb the highest tree (to get away from Beverly me) she tried to make a devil out of me.
Oh my Beverly she tried to put the devil in me
Well it's benn 30 years since I've seen Beverly
I guess she's married and now I wish it was to me
Dang gone it she must have mental telepathy
Because Beverly still has a grip on me
Beverly, she put the devil in me
Oh my Beverly, she put the evil in me
Beverly, oh my Beverly (fade out...)
