Grandma's in the kitchen baking bread
Junior's got a nine penny in his head
Paw paw's throwing shoes with Uncle Fred
Momma's in the kitchen making pies
The boys are in the back yard shagging flies
The truck is gussied up and simonized
Down home, Down Home
Down home where the living's mighty fine
Where things are looking up most of the time
Living large and double wide
Down Home, Down Home
Daddy's in the kitchen drinking beer
Rocking his new jockey underwear
Got the trailer paid off free and clear
Down Home Down Home
Nan-Naw's in the kitchen making shine
With equal parts of love and turpentine
Scattered lows and record highs
Just a fine homespun Country song painting images of a traditional, simple, family life. Great guitar picking in every respect and easily recognisable high quality vocal with accurate harmonies. Recording is top notch and the mix is just right with the vocals in exactly the right place so that the story can be heard.
A very good country song.
No need for fancy recording tricks here. I love the honesty and organic feeling of this recording!
Great song. Depicts a country atmosphere, to a tee. I loved it. Lazy crazy day.
Excellent instumentation, writer is a very good storyteller, lead vocal is very warm and relatable. Nice work!
Nice work on this, instruments are clear, vocals stand out and the harmony's are right on.
Sweet, sweet recording, well played & mixed. Excellent instrumentation. The lyrics have very good visual aspects that stand out. I think I've met some of these people, you've described them well. I think I can smell the bread in the doublewide.
