Lyrics

GO TO BED, DIANE

We wanted to get a dog
We went to the shelter
We luckily found a prize
Her name was Diane

She was white with black spots, she was our pointer
She?d never be destroyed, we fell for her
On the ride home she cried
And our lives would be intertwined like knots or the tremors of sobbing

We played, until it was late, but she was still a little bit upset
We showed her where she could lay, and there she could place her head

Go to bed Diane, where you can sleep and dream
You need your rest, we?ll see you in the morning
You?re safe and we?ll care for you always
Say goodnight my canine friend again
Go to bed, Diane, rest easy

In our heart she did carve
And we went everywhere
We made a tight clan like 6 pegs on a board bound with rubber bands
It was us, the cat and Diane

It?s like she shot off from the start, she hugged life?s edge
She lived every dog-breath, she protected our family
She would risk anything, any slam
At the end of her life span, our bird-doggy Diane died so bizarrely

We left one day to the mall, but she was now older, and forgetful
She found a gate flawed, went up 18 stairs, and through a weak screen she?d wreck
She fell 3 stories onto the lawn, for us to find, and watch life withdrawn

Go to bed Diane where you can really fly
You need your rest, we?ve all done a lot of crying
You?re at peace today, and we?ll love you always
Go to where life began, we?ll meet you in the end
Go to bed, Diane, rest easy
