Story Behind The Song
This is a duet with maverick folk icon Ed Haynes. I wrote it in the fall of 1987 after returning from Boise.
Song Description
This is a call and response duet, concerning a long distance friendship with a girl in Boise and a man in an undefined town. As she is only 16 and the man seems to be at least in adulthood, the friendship is described as non-romantic.

Lyrics
VERSE 1
Boise girl, my potato queen
Cute and rural, only sixteen
Look so fair, she calls me boy
In the desert air, she's my spud town joy
CHORUS
You may have been around the world
But you've not met the Boise girl
VERSE 2
Boise girl, I was passing through
She's a pearl, and feeling quite askew
I was sad, I had to go away
But I'll be glad, I'll be back someday
REPEAT CHORUS
BRIDGE
I told her I'd be back
And she knows that's a fact
I'll see her when I can
For I'm a traveling man
VERSE 3
Boise girl, life is slow
Just a girl in Idaho
This song I send, don't call the law
To my platonic friend, la femme du bois
REPEAT CHORUS
REPEAT BRIDGE
REPEART CHORUS
