Story Behind The Song
Many of my songs are derived from real-life situations, and often these situations were painful. Here?s an example - a ?homesick? song about me longing for the wooded, temperate terrain of Bucks County, PA, and for the well-rooted family and friends who still lived there. Meanwhile, as I wrote this from another state I?d moved to, I was enduring the death-rattle of a relationship. Who says angst doesn?t beget creativity?
Song Description
Up-tempo piano rocker with supporting guitars reminiscent of Bruce Hornsby's "The Valley Road". This is about as "country" as I get.

Lyrics
This Was My Home (Promised Land)
see valley green
and mountain blue
this river runs through you
so deep and wide
right through God?s good earth
yes it?s all here in the land of my birth
oh what was I thinking (shoulda never left)
as I skated away?
this was my home
this was my promised land
this was my home
I?m goin? back to make my stand
and with these hands I?ll build a new world
with a forever girl
(with these hands I?m building me a new world
for this hungry heart I?m gonna find a forever girl)
there in the promised land
this humble clan
lived and died in their boots
deep souls with deeper roots
from sacred stone and wood
and their own flesh and blood
did they build their New Jerusalem
is there one single acre left there (I wanna come home)
for this prodigal son?
this was my home
this was my promised land
this was my home
I?m goin? back to make my stand
and with these two hands I?ll build a new world
with a forever girl
(with these two hands I?m gonna make it real
for this lonely heart I?m gonna find my forever girl)
there in the promised land
this was my home
this was my promised land
this was my home
I?m goin? back to make my stand
this was my home
rising proud in the promised land
and with these two hands
I?ll make a new one
(with these hands I?m building me a new one
God if you are there
are you hearing me?
the Lord?s will be done)
home in the promised land
