Story Behind The Song
I met this guy in a music store who left a very deep impression on me - so deep I was fairly convinced he was a bonafide Angel, until I found he had a physical address. He boosted my spirit large without preaching at me, left me all rosy inside with words. Last thing he said was, "get your ass to mass." That stuck. A few weeks later I auditioned on mandolin for a bluegrassy trio a la Gillian Welch. Marlee & Ken (Angelic voices) were believers, and their musicianship inspired this ditty, and their (all three characters) spirituality inspired it's content. God bless yas, I owe yous one.

Lyrics
The Other Side (of heaven's door)
You see your neighbours, gosh they've got good grass (good grass!)
But look up over yonder, there's a sky blue pass
If you want to get to heaven like you ought to lass
Then get your ass to mass
The...
Grass is greener over here (over here)
Over death I need not fear
For here in the arms of my Saviour open wide
The grass grows greener over here
But it's even sweeter on the other side
On the other side
On the other side of heaven's door
You say the
Grass is greener on the other side
But brothers, sisters, there's no place to hide
If our hearts and minds, if they are open wide
The grass pales (over) there
Don't you know the...
Grass is greener over here (over here)
Over death I need not fear
For here in the arms of my Saviour open wide
The grass grows greener over here
But it's even sweeter on the other side
On the other side
On the other side of heaven's door
Did I hear you say the...
Grass is greener over there, my friend
But brothers, sisters, there's a no good end
You can't walk away from all this love He sends
Look again, it's no greener over there
No the...
Grass is greener over here (over where?)
Over death I need not fear
For here in the arms of my Saviour open wide
The grass grows greener over here
But it's even sweeter on the other side
On the other side
On the other side of heaven's door
On the other side of heaven's door
On the other side of heaven's door
