Song Description

The song asks the Lord what can be done right now to thank Him for all the blessings he has given my family. The song also asks how I might become a voice for Him. Many people pray, asking for various blessings, but maybe we should be asking what we can do for Him.

Story Behind the Song

Taking inventory of all the good things that have occurred during our nearly 50 years of marriage, it was an attempt to try and thank the Lord for all he has done.

Lyrics

WHAT CAN I DO?
Words and music by Gary Lee Ireland (10/30/2013)
VERSE 1:
Lord, what can I do for you today?
I give thanks for all my blessings
But, what else can I say
I'm in debt for all You've given
And my debt I'd like to repay
So Lord, what can I do for you today?

VERSE 2:
Lord, what can I do for you right now?
Its time to turn the table
Try to pay you back somehow
If I'm truly your disciple
My time to act is way past due
So Lord, what can I do for you?

CHORUS:
What can I do that I failed to do before?
What can I do to ease this guilt I feel?
What can I do to simply say thank you?
Tell me Lord what can I do?

VERSE 3:
Lord, what can I say to make a change?
I want to know what I can speak
To glorify you name
Teach me the words
Make me Your voice today
Lord, what can I say?

REPEAT CHORUS:

BRIDGE:
We all turn to God with our daily prayer requests
Stating our case and praying to be blessed
When all we really need to know is God's grace is true
We should be asking what we can do

REPEAT CHORUS: ( Replace "I" with "We" Replace "Thank You" with "We Love You")
Tag with Lord what can I do?
