Story Behind The Song
Another song with lyrics, this one is very sad, yet hopeful. Another fine set of lyrics from Melody. I had offered this tune to others before I met her, but no one was able to come up with any words. Given the final product, I'm glad no one did. The original title was Brick, because I didn't want to call it New Piano Song 45 or whatever, and since the song Brick by Ben Folds Five is another piano-based dirge, I gave them a nod, if only temporarily. This song rounds out the album beautifully, leaving you wanting to hear the whole thing again, I hope.

Lyrics
Won't you stop and listen to me, I loved you so
I am hurting just as much even though it doesn't show
You had more than most people ever find in life
The universe was written for me in being your wife
You threw it away
When you took other lovers and you pandered to your mother
You regressed, and I knew I was repressed
And I know that the future holds for me what I want it all to be
And I am no longer oppressed
So won't you stop and listen to me explain myself
I am hurting, but I know I can't live upon the shelf
All the years we worked together are gone and past
You were nothing more to me than an icy blast of hell
But I'm moving on
All I want is for you to see what I wanted you to be for you
It's sad, but it's true
And I know that the future holds for me what I want it all to be
And I am no longer oppressed
