Song Descriptionusing an oft used devise of the four seasons as a metaphor of our brief life.
Story Behind the SongI mostly find the heart of the lyric after pages of writing just to get started.
Ellen and I were with her brother, Tom - mandolin, day tripping to a local state park and found a creek to follow and we played music there. It was a wonderful moment in time and I was able to capture the spirit of it.
Lyrics
In Summer where a lazy river bends
We walk there hand in hand
Clouds float by, a pirate ship a dragon fly
Midst the wonder of water tumble stone
to the land of hearth and home
Our time to be alone
To dance the mambo under moon
drink in your scent of love's perfume
Warm in the glow at the spark of dawn,
We hear our song
chorus
It's a Good Life, you and me
Lift our voice in harmony
A Good Life, I believe
Loving you is all I'll ever need.
The garden springs to life
I spend it with my wife.
Time flows by in children's laughter,
Lullaby
Now Autumn colors paint the trees
Scuffling through the scattered leaves
Reveals the mystery
How pumpkin glow like harvest moon
Geese know where they're flying to.
Far down the road one day we'll be gone
We hear the song
Chorus:
It's a Good Life, you and me
Lift our voice in harmony.
A Good Life I believe, loving you is all I'll ever need.
Instr.
Spring comes 'round full circle to start anew
Lose the grip of winter blue
We thaw our toes, from dormant sleep a flower grows
The sun breaks through a drizzle day
Now that winter 's swept away
We can go out and play
To dance Merenge under moon
Breathe in the scent of love's perfum
Warm in the glow at the spark of dawn,
We hear our song
Chorus
It's a good life you and me
Lift our voice in harmony
A Good Life, I believe
Loving you is all I'll ever need
