Dark Skies

Story Behind The Song

I wrote this piece as part of a collection of piano works to accompany a series on the sensations of cruise sailing.

Song Description

An impressionistic piano piece written to accompany the feeling of enduring a tropical thunderstorm from first patter or rain through to last. At first light rain... then heavier rain... then eventual thunderous rain and lightning strikes... and then the relief of it ebbing and passing away.

Great piano work!! I can hear this in a movie background for a very emotional piece. Plus I'm very jealous of how well you play!! :( Great Job!!

What I love about music is the fact that it is an art with as much color and expression as a painting. This piece is exactly that and swoops in and out of anguished moods and reflections. The arrangement was complex and interesting and what makes often a special piece of music is the ability to capture the same feel and emotion each time you play it live. This one is a challenge I am sure for anyone other than you the original artist. Well done , great sensitivity on the keys and lovely expression throughout.
