Story Behind The Song
With an ever-watchful eye on the needs of children, I wrote this song inspired by the beckoning for immense changes that we will have to make in these challenging times, with both hope and the ability to follow through on transforming ourselves in the process.
Song Description
"It's About a Sunrise" holds the images of the new awakening that is happening everywhere, and the dreams, and hope, and love that is needed to go along with it!
This is an anthem that includes the involvement of a gospel choir and children's chorus, as well as a fabulous solo by Lois Mahalia.
I especially wanted to emphasize the need to think about future generations with the final lines sung by the children:
Don't forget about tomorrow,
We depend on you.
Don't forget it's our tomorrow,
Our tomorrow too.

Lyrics
It's About a Sunrise
©2009 By Dr. Mac, Dobbin and Mann
We're talkin' about a new day comin'
People in the world are filled with doubt
From what's been done.
Talkin' about a new day comin'
Little seeds in the earth who all come out
To reach for the sun...
(Chorus:)
It's about a sunrise tomorrow
To open our eyes, and rise above,
It's about a new day to follow,
It's about a new way, and it's about love.
Take me to that new horizon
Where everyone can see the morning sun...
And we've only begun.
Take me to that new horizon
Where all our voices rise as one
With everyone.
(Chorus)
Everybody's needed, and don't you feel defeated
Just 'cause yesterday's ways are all worn out.
We're off on our way and ready to climb,
It's about change, and it's about time,...it's time
It's about a sunrise tomorrow
To open our eyes, and rise above,
It's about a new day to follow,
It's about hope, it's about spirit,
It's about dreams...and it's about love.
It's about a sunrise. (repeat)
(Kids' chorus 2x)
Don't forget about tomorrow,
We depend on you.
Don't forget it's our tomorrow,
Our tomorrow too.
