Occasional shifts into minor chords bring out the modal beauty of the air, which is warmly and faultlessly lilted by the singer. This Scots lullaby has some martial undertones. The arrangement reflects that, moving from symphonic to intimate and back again. Together with the well-judged vocal, it makes for a moving performance, well worth the listen.
