Simple Things

Story Behind The Song

I was in my car in a traffic jam one day, and was thinking about how simple life was when I was younger, it inspired the intire song.

Song Description

It is about being tired of the fast paced life and wanting to go back and enjoy the simple things in life like when you were a child. Just throw away you check book, credit cards and car keys and go back to when things were simple and fun.

Lyrics

Verse 1
I'm going back to my childhood days
Back when I was only eight
Things didn't always go my way
But in all, life was still great

I'm gonna skip rocks across a pond
Then sit under a big oak tree
Think about the days that have gone
And the way things use to be

Chorus
Hereby give my resignation
No responsibilities, no destination
Going back to when things were sane
And life was filled with simple things

Here's my check book and car keys
Credit cards to do with as you please
Going back to the simple things
Going back to childhood dreams

Verse 2
I wanna live life simple again
Believe in the warmth of a smile
When neighbors cared and lent a hand
Knowing it's a simple life

I wanna make castles in the sand
Be blissfully happy and unaware
Eat hot dogs and play when I can
Not a worry or a care

Bridge:
It's the simple life I crave
Back when I was only eight
When what I knew were nursery rhymes
Playing in mud was good times
M&ms were little gems
I didn't want to eat them
Run a cool aid stand with a friend
Wishing the day would never end

Chorus
Hereby give my resignation
No responsibilities, no destination
Going back to when things were sane
And life was filled with simple things

Here's my check book and car keys
Credit cards to do with as you please
Going back to the simple things
Going back to childhood dreams

Great instrumentation and vocal arrangement. The song had a really good feel too it. A definite toe-tapper. I really enjoyed listening to it. The lyrics flowed well throughout and told a good story, which is what Country music is all about.
