Story Behind The Song
Dave and his wife loved to take road trips and this didn't stop when they had their son. On one of these trips, the family fell asleep and Dave literally penned this song while driving. A Motown tribute was on the radio, which later became the musical style for this song.

Lyrics
The Ramblin? Toss
I?ve been drivin? so long, the mile signs fly by,
the radio plays the same old song
They?re like sirens of forgotten memories,
Attic dust flying off sheets of newspaper
I?ve been face down, placed down, I?ve raced around
Scattering my flattery in every new town
I?ve come to believe that there?s more than sorrow
And hollow tomorrows as I look to the new day
The Ramblin? Toss, exhuming the human
from the boozin? and cruisin The hard luck love losin?
What is lacking in passing the time away
is part of the ride, it?s part of the sway
I glance back in my rearview mirror
I see what makes life a little bit clearer
I see their heads cocked in similar fashion
back their dreamin? of the their different passions
The morning looks fine, without all the wine
And shunning the sun for a little bit of extra sleep
I still believe when the see the the dew shutter
From my son?s clumsy cluttered gallop into the new day
That all of his joys and all of his sorrows will fill my tomorrows
And become my yesterdays
The Ramblin? Toss, exhuming the human
from the boozin? and cruisin The hard luck love losin?
What is lacking in passing the time away
is part of the ride, it?s part of the sway
