Song Description

a couple driving on a vacation as couples do when one of them starts to admit to straying or thinking about it or something that sucks like that. and so the inevitable break up and then that thing later when you think about the good ones that come and go

Story Behind the Song

A friend of mine was telling me how she was driving with her husband to a wedding when he decided to tell her he was in love with someone else. And my dad is from Salida, Colorado which I always wanted to put into a song and so here's where it happened.

Lyrics

We were just out side Salida
On our way down to Mexico
You were telling me a story there
One I thought I heard before

There was something 'bout a good girl
Lost her way out on the road
I was looking for an offramp then
Anyway to get back home

We got lost outside Salida
Never made ol Mexico
I was trying to forgive you
It's not easier to know

I was trying to forget you
It's not easy when you know
