Right in the Middle

Story Behind The Song

I love my pops and I love my little boy. I wanted to make a song that expressed that love and how it continues from one generation to the next, to the next.

Song Description

I see so much of myself in my son and now understand how of my father is in me. I think some of it is teaching but some of it just can't be explained by the things my father taught me or I teach my boy. They just are and that is kind of magical.

Lyrics

My father's eyes are blue like mine
He says so were the milkman's but I think he's lyin'
My eyes are blue like my sons
And it's the twenty first century
And the milkman don't come round anymore

Here I am right in the middle

My father says he's a rollin' stone
He's got a heart like confetti with a hard wind blowin'
My little boy don't know what girls are all about
Well look at me and grandpa, son, join the crowd

And here I am
Right in the middle

Snips and snails and comic books and the man in the
The cat's in the cradle but they climb out way too soon
All those moments that I missed cuz I was takin' pictures
Mmmmm by the by

Come one day I'll be alone and I'll have those pictures to hang on
And my heart won't be

Heart won't be broken right in the middle

My boy was league champ, his very first try
My father coached my football team and that's where I learned to fly

So what I'm sayin' is that your doin's never done
You don't have to be the ghost between your father and your son

'Cuz you belong mmmmm
Just a little song mmmmm
And you know it can't be wrong

To be right
Right in the middle
