Here We Go

Story Behind The Song

This, as with many of my recent songs, are inspired by the written works of Daniel Quinn: "Ishmael", "The Story of B", "My Ishmael". Works of fiction that wake the mind up to how we've arrived at this strange and precarious place in human history.

Song Description

For all of our self-aggrandization, humans actually seem to be no more intelligent then common yeast... devouring and devouring until there is nothing left but a level of toxicity that they themselves cannot tolerate. The signs are evident... our error

Lyrics

HERE WE GO

I've spent some time reflecting
Until all time dissolved
And after much dissecting
I'm still far from being resolved

It's such a paradox that we have come so far
Yet here we are
No closer to perfecting
The art of giving
And of simple living

Here we go!
Another chance to learn what we already know
And is soon to be forgotten
What we sew
Shall be reaped in time they say, but
Haven't we been told that
Time and again, again and again?

Think of the first heart beating
A simple sound so strong
Since then each heart repeating
Echoes of that opening song

It such a miracle that Life
Has granted us this time to share
Why waste it all competing?
There are children laughing
Skies need photographing

Here we go!
Another chance to learn what we already know
And is soon to be forgotten
Shouldn't throw
Stones when living in glass houses
But haven't we been told that
Time and again, again and again?
Here we go... let's try something different now

Sera que nao passemos suficiente?
Sera que ja nao passemos por tudo?
Sera que esquecemos como viver?
Sera que esquecemos como amar?
Sera que esquecemos como nadar contra a corrente?
Se esquecemos como aprender
So temos uma coisa para aprender
A cancao silenciosa do extinto

TRANSLATION:
(Haven't we been through enough?
Haven't we been through it all?
Have we forgotten how to live?
Have we forgotten how to love?
Have we forgotten how to swim upstream?
If we've forgotten how to learn
There is but one thing left to learn:
The silent song of the extinct)

Here we go!
Another chance to learn what we already know
And is soon to be forgotten
Let it go
Life's too short to cling to anger
But haven't we been told that
Time and again, again and again
Here we go... let's try something different now
