Song Description

Go to any public place where people are on a telephone call and the expression "luvyabye" can be heard everywhere. Sometimes it is just a little ritual, but sometimes it can mean a whole lot more.

Story Behind the Song

I originally started to write this as a satire, making fun of people who mindlessly said "luvyabye" like a mantra. After giving it more thought, I recognized that it could mean a lot of different things--thus its use becomes progressively more intimate as the song evolves.

Lyrics

Luvyabye
By Charlie Crow

He's running through the airport
Cell phone in his hand
Got to call his honey
Before he's gone again
Hasty conversation
And then he has to fly
Hangs up the phone with "Luvyabye"

(Chorus)
Luvyabye
Luvyabye
A simple expression
To say in case you die
Whisper it or mumble it
But don't forget to try...
The last thing to say is "Luvyabye"

She's rockin' the baby
Her soldier's never seen
That day he shipped out
Is still a bad dream
Got to be brave
But it still makes her cry
When he kissed her and said, "Luvyabye"

(Chorus)
Luvyabye
Luvyabye
A simple expression
To say in case you die
Whisper it or mumble it
But don't forget to try...
The last thing to say is "Luvyabye"

(Bridge)
Some folks might say
That it's just superstitious--
But I say it's a great way
To cover all your wishes!

Momma's lived a good life
Her race is nearly run
Worn out and tired
Time to move on
Close the family circle
Gather by her side
The last thing we said was "Luvyabye"

(Final Chorus)
Luvyabye
Luvyabye
A simple expression
For comfort live or die
Whisper it or mumble it
But don't forget to try...
Remember to say "Luvyabye"

Oh, whisper it or mumble it
But don't forget to try...
Remember to say "Luvyabye"
"Luvyabye"...
"Luvyabye"...
"Luvya...bye"
