Rosarita

Story Behind The Song

Developed out of another track entitled 'Pulling riddles from a middle-eastern mind". Based on a trip to Rosarita with my son & the exec. producer of the record. Travel/glimpses of another existence stimulates me creatively.

Song Description

Alot of travellers are escape artists by nature, so when they fall in love, they are rarely satisfied. The challenge for these two is to accept their natures: he is an escape artist and she is a waitress or a prostitute (servicing other peoples desires). But, above & beyond this & their own mortal natures is the love that binds them & can save them, if they will let it!

Lyrics

There is a place called Rosarita
Along the coast we made our stand
And mama said when we were heroes
we didn't have to earn it with our backs

So don't you tell me you are chearful
God gave us all the brains for that
When you've inished praying caballero
The DJ would stop staring at my hat

With strangest conviction
choose you're affliction
write it deep within our stars
out on the reservation tonight
baby the saints are in our hearts

I must have left my ticket in the thicket, where the tourists like to kick it
and the English drink their beer & watch their cricket
I guess I left my heart in Rosarita by the seafood tacqeria
Where the old man & the boys were playing salsa

Working the service in the dark
Baby the Saints are in our hearts
These days life goes by too fast
All we have left are these moments that are ours

Dos Equis & dos huevos, veritas, que linda ojos
But remember I'm a gringo, so um poco, just a little

Why is my frozen Mahrgerita
Falling between the posters & my hand
If I dedicate my soul to Santa
Exchange La Mancha's grace for disneyland

Love, I don't want to seem ungrateful
for all the coastline we've had
But, when you've finished playing caballero
You're sitting where the last bandito sat

(guitar solo)

I must have left my ticket in the thicket, where the tourists like to kick it
and the English drink their beer & watch their cricket
I guess I left my heart in Rosarita by the seafood tacqeria
Where the old man & the boys were playing salsa

Working the service in the dark
Baby the Saints are in our hearts
These days life goes by too fast
All we have left are these moments that are ours

Donde esta, como esta? Rosita, bonita

I guess I left my heart in Rosarita by the seafood tacqeria
Where the old man & the boys were playing salsa

Working the service in the dark
Baby the Saints are in our hearts
These days life goes by too fast
All we have left are these moments that are ours
