Lyrics

Folsom

(Verse 1)
I got a cot
And 3 hots
And a roof over my head
I did the crime
Doing time
I'll be here 'til I'm dead
(Verse 2)
Doing better
Than my brother
Who's out there livin' free
Lost his woman
And his job
Now he's wishing he was me

(Chorus)
Well--Prison ain't so bad
If it's all you've ever had
The best thing I ever did was a felony
I've been here since my birth
And I'll say for what it's worth
Folsom is a prison of luxury

(Verse 3)
Killing time
Ain't a crime
And it gets you through the night
Don't want a pardon
Or parole
That's something I will fight

(Chorus)
Prison ain't so bad
If it's all you've ever had
The best thing I ever did was a felony
I've been here since my birth
And I'll say for what it's worth
Folsom is a prison of luxury

(Bridge)
I'm kicking back in Folsom
No booze no drugs it's wholesome
Ain't got no debt don't need no pets
If they sold shares I would own some

(Verse 4)
In the prison
They have a band
And we play at 12 o'clock
Like Elvis
With his pelvis
We'll do the jailhouse rock

(Chorus)
Prison ain't so bad
If it's all you've ever had
The best thing I ever did was a felony
Yeah!
I've been here since my birth
And I'll say for what it's worth
Folsom is a prison of luxury

Prison of luxury--Yeah!

Quirky Elvis Vibe.

Charles Edmund Carter keeps getting better and better.

This swing up tempo song is fun to listen in its up tempo feeling about a prison stay. I guess as your title is Folsom. WOW but I clicked to hear your submission on my first pass and ... Seriously ... I had to read the first line of your lyrics as it comes across differently in my ear today but maybe just be my mind at the time but as an attention grabber it works!
Maybe getting the genre into maybe a Pop Swing Country might fit the bill but it's one of your originals that can be listened to repeatedly leaving a let's repeat this again on the playlist.
I look forward to hearing and reviewing for Broadjam Pro Song reviews a few MORE of your songs. I think your work is getting better each one I review. Thank you for "Folsom" as it's not a lonesome prison blues at all from your descriptive lyrics and music.
